Break out the Popcorn!

YIPPEEEEEEE! My braces are off! I went today at 4:45, missed out on an Art Teacher Party :( and had my metal mouth taken down. I hate to say it, but I can't stop looking at my teeth. I never thought I'd have a smile like this....straight AND white! The process did take a little bit of time but it really wasn't horrible. I had the valium ready just incase I needed to relax :) Kathy, my favorite assistant at Dr. Cassatta's office, was near by so I could squeeze her hand. She is so good to me.

This weekend I plan on going to the movies at the Little and getting a nice big bucket of popcorn......can't wait!

Wild Hearts

Our music teacher, Carol, is moving to Florida!! We were all shocked by the news a few months back and we are still struggling to get use to the idea. Yesterday we, the "specials" team, took her out for a surprise boat cruise on Wild Hearts charters. From left to right, Carol, Karen, me and Rich. How FUN!! She was totally surprised and appreciative of us all getting together. It was a bit chilly and rain threatened but we didn't let any of that hamper our good time. We will miss Carol and all that she did for our school.

Images of Inspiration.....

Here are a few of the pieces by Dale Chihuly that I was inspired by. When possible, I think its nice to link how an idea comes together. Sometimes however, ideas just live in your head and documenting the journey is difficult. If you are a creative person of any sort, you know exactly what I mean.

Here is the end result.....I plan on making this into a series so keep posted for others in this line.

Sunrise

Finally. I completed my Chihuly "ish" neckpiece! And, I'm delighted with it. The creative process is quite a ride and sometimes the product can take its sweet time to finally come to fruition. I knew that I wanted to take my time with this piece.....rushing is never a wise thing for me and I'm glad I listened to myself. I hope you enjoy it too. As always, this looks far better in person than it does in the photograph. In part its because of my so-so photograph and in part because I just don't think photos do glass justice. In reality it looks like blooming poppies.

UGH!!! This blogger is taking forever to upload images.....so, I'll post more later tonight or tomorrow.

The Best Seat in the Studio!

My friend Lisa surprised me on Saturday & gave me this fantastic stool she painted. I LOVE it! I've known Lisa for many years now & she has always been a great artist. She does interior & faux painting & furniture painting too. If you are ever in need of fine painting work of this type...Lisa is your girl. I wish she had a website to direct you too...maybe soon.

One of my favorite parts of the stool is the seat. The wild paisley design is great. I played around with paisley beads before but never loved the results. But I think I'll try some paisley beads in these colors & see how I do this time around.

Its still hot and humid so I really don't feel like making beads. I did put together some earrings however....the machine must keep going. I'm calling them my MisMatched series. Neither earring matches but are a Fun, whimsical statement....very me but I'll have to see this festival season how many others like me are out there.

A Big Thank You!

I just wanted to Thank everyone who came by my studio on Saturday for my annual Open House. I am thankful and fortunate to have supporters of my work. I really do appreciate you all.

Sorry to be so brief here today. Its hot & sticky and I need to get ready for work! No time to even upload an image.
Stay cool.....I'll be back tomorrow.
:) Linda

New Things for Saturday!

As always, I'm working hard to keep up with things. I have a bunch of new things to show at Saturday's Open House....Yippee! The few images I'm posting here are just a sample of these new things.

This photo isn't the best...the color is off a bit. As you might imagine, its much brighter.
